ive just been tested to see if i could have the lazer treatment ....like you sandy i only need them for reading....but boy do ineed them.....

and i am HOPELESS with glasses       ..ive gone from buying the designer named ones....to the ones from poundland...2 pairs for £1...they look terrible...but i loose or break at least 1 pair each and everyweek......i spend half my dam life  saying....wheres my bloody glasses.......but....they said i wasnt suitable for lazer as i would still need glasses for reading......so just saved myself over a thousand pound this year...but how much is it gona cost n the long run..........also my cousin had laser treatment.....and it didnt work...she still wears glasses............it doesnt work for everyone....and not everyone is suitable.......give it a try michelle and good luck with it....xx

Let us know how it went Michele. I'm also considering having the lazer thing done, but the old medical aid isn't playing along yet. They only cover the costs in "certain" cases. Last year I got a quote from the Pretoria Eye Institute for R19 000 which is only the procedure. Then there's recovery time in hospital, medication etc, etc.
Altogether you could be looking at a bill in the region of R30K.

Thanks guys! I am blind without my contacts, left eye is -4.5 and right eye is -3.5. First thing I have to do in the morning is "put my eyes in" and, like this morning when Shannon is opening presents and reading her cards, it would be nice to be able to just open my eyes and be able to see properly without having to hassle with contact solution! Also when the wind blows I'm always getting sand in my eyes which scratches the contact lenses.

I've got a couple contacts for eye doctors in Cape Town now - it's just being able to plan a suitable time!
