I used to work in the café during the holidays. At the end of the eveningshift we had to clean the twirly wirly machine......hmmmmmmmmmmm that was lovely with a flake! I often worked with Nicole, a niece or cousin of Mrs. Uittenhoven. Cora's mom, Mrs. Lindhout and my mom, Mrs. Brünner worked in shifts at the swimmingpool and cafe.
Double thick malt.they were the best at Cora's café.

Michele Alexander (Voden)

notfair - we only came in 1981 and I don't recall there being a Cora's cafe then.

Yes I remember Nicole she was Michelle's cousin so therefore Mrs Uytenhoven's niece. She was rather pretty and all the guys in town went quite gaga over her and her french accent.  202

idontknow Its a good thing that I can't remember how the double thick malt is made....calories my friend!
I last saw Nicole in 1972? in Belgium. I went with her and her mother and grandmother to buy her a weddingdress. A pity that I lost her out of sight.

@ Mike S. Stennie the Mike's Kitchen franchise is on the up again and the double thick malts are magic. Almost as good as Cora's.

I would love to help you with your 2 liters of ice cream, but you need horlicks as well. That is a malt extract in a jar. You need 2 big spoons of horlicks and 2 big spoons of your 2 litre ice cream and add a glas of milk. Put this all into a milkshaker and shake. Baby i can taste it already. You also need big straws or else you can forget about drinking it. haha
Enjoy your double thick malt.

bye for now. Anything else girls?
lotsa love

Dalene Steenkamp (Coetzee)

Ha ha ha  -  surprise..............   I ALWAYS HAVE HORLICKS!   Love the stuff  -

Thank you very much  -  gonna make myself a double malt now.  You are welcome to come and join me  -  not that far?!

Enjoy your  thick malt. I live too far away to drop by.  witch-43 this would have been handy.

The more Horlicks the better it is .. I eat it straight out of the jar ..let it melt in my mouth .. its the only way I can consume it apart from a double thick .. the classic hot drink with hot milk and horlicks  makes  me want to puke ..

Sandy, are we related in some way?  Same thing with me  -  like other would drink condenced milk or eat sweets, I every now & then eat the Horlicks with a spoon straight from the jar.  Not nice in hot milk or with water  -  tastes like sour molassas then.....
