Our Diamond Queens

Just a thought....if we could gather the names (and the years that they "reigned") of our past Diamond Queens.This was quite a major event in the town. When was the last Diamond Queen Ball held? Some names I remember but not the years.  Fiona Bennet, Wimpie(Bardenhorst) can't remember her maiden name Oosthuizen maybe.
           Des van der Merwe,   oh dear only 3.  I'm sure Cora was at sometime.

I think the wife of Karl Schmitt was queen about 1976

Karl was an elctronic expert at 2 Plant

Hi Pat, weren't you also a Diamond Queen? I know you had a lot of admirers in "them" days!
The Diamond Queen Ball was instituted in the late fifties if I'm not mistaken, with Muriel Richardson being the inaugural winner. The ladies were given marks out of ten for "General appearance", out of ten for "Poise", and out of three for "Curtsy"! Do ladies still curtsy??

Hi Ricky lovely to here from u.    NO NEVER a diamond queen.  Was once asked to endter when I was 7 1/2 month pregnat with my last child!!!! What a laugh.  You knew me very well not the kind of thing I would do.   More happy in friendly company than in general public.    How are u  Where are U

After my time, but from research: Sally Kennedy in 1984 and Ronel Pieterse in 1988!
