Sandy if you do get to see the Machts in Kleinmond pleeeeeeeez gently prod him to write up a short biography of his younger days in Kolmanskop, which you, or Mike can record on this website. The Machts and Aunt Anita Reschke are the only two living people that we OMD'ers know of and their writings on Kolmans would extremely valuable and interesting seeing as Kolmans features so heavily in the history of OMD.

This is a very interesting idea, a brilliant one also..... I mean how many Kolmans people are still alive today...... we should get their memories, one day somebody is going to want to write or make a documentary on the place, a history channel item perhaps on the richest diamond fields on the earth, and there will only be a barren abandoned town in the middle of the desert.....

Mike I could not agree with you more. This information is so valuable especially coming from people that actually lived on Kolmankop. Be very sad if this was lost. Sandy how about it. Get into that Renault Cleo and visit Gunter and Helga, aw come on. Take the attached pic with and show Gunter.
