Another small snap I scanned, the only thing on the back of the snap was IAN WILSON, who are these jovial characters? where is the building situated behind them?

Looks like we need some real old timers support here because this looks like a bunch of appies when they had to wear suits & ties to tech, who can we get out of mothballs ??

Suggestions please,

 "APPIES IN TIES"

Sounds like a movie title! laughpoint

Ties & jackets were worn even in the early 70's

We need someone like Bill Mitchell  or from that era to ID these guys

Mike or John Creedy may know ?

John Creedy

Hi
Cant ID anyone there.  I will ask Leila - she knows everything..... Ouch!

Clive Symes

Now that was'nt too hard to admit, or was it. ( Same over here)

John Creedy

The Wilson at 4 plant was a sparky - Don Wilson.  The other Wilson Leila was in a class with was Guy Wilson

chaps 1, 2 and 3 from left are surely too old to be appies?
The style of suits seems to be late 50's early 60's vintage.
The background does not look like Caseys or anywhere in the rec club for that matter.
Pretty old building.
Gee I give up. idontknow

Right hand side white wall, those bricks are CDM standard size from back in the day....

Top Left hand next to the window panes above the door, those pulley things that were standard in Oranjemund back n the day, to open and close the windows above the door....

We have to then assume that the photo, being found in the Museum archives must be in Oranjemund, the ask ourselves, at what locations in Oranjemund, during the late 50;s (going on the fashion), would one be required to wear a tie, surely there could'nt have been to many spots?

Yes Leon I agree late 50's early 60's. Our Kevin Pilling should be able to help. I will drag my mom over to have a look as well.

Take a look at the original Nurses Quarters and the Staff single quatrers that is before they were renovated, could therefore be Engineering students as some were housed in the SQ behind the old radio shop. They also had a kitchen and a courtyard hence double doors  and  possibly a covered entrance exit.

Any one with a better suggestion???
