Does anybody know where Ivan, "Nan", Sean, Andrew and Amanda moved to? They used to live in 5th Ave just accross the road from the old powerstation.

I don't know but I believe Andrew died some years back.  Young and unexpected - heart attack I think.

Hi George

I stand corrected but if  Andrew was "Andy" as I knew him he died whilst rock climbing ... a real freak accident and Ivan also passed away just not sure of dates.

That's realy tough news for me. I liked the morrows.
My parents visited om in the 80s ansd met Andy. He told them about his dangerous sports. Actualy I'm not surprised. He was a pusher.
Ivan would probably be over 70, maybe even 75. But that's no age nowadays? I think he smoked a lot.

Hi George... ok I lived in Oranjemund from the end of 1979 till 1995 with a break of 4 years in between.

I couldnt tell you how I met Ivan... guess he was just one of those people you bumped into that made a lasting impression but it was obviously through work I guess.   I knew Andy better though as he was I think just a tad younger than me.  I am Mike Hardman's little sister ... I saw on the other page that you know him??

Sorry, but I don't know Mike. I probably just commented on something to find a way into the discusion.  :buffo9:
We left om Febuary 1979 and I haven't been in Africa at all since then. Andy and I used to go to school together. Sometimes we went to the beach or the logcabin to fish or what ever else. We were at the boy scouts, went camping ect. Just pals and starting to be teenagers. First smoke, first beer without adult attention and first interests for girls.
I remember Ivan always having a slight of a twinkel in his eyes. Sometimes he would tell us stories of the old-days as a boy in Belfast. He was an Irishman as you may recall.
Did you know his wife und the other two children Sean and Amanda?

Hi Alfred. Great to hear nice words about Andy.
Were you appies in om?
Is there any more you can tell me about from 1979 onward?
Perhaps we know each other too. I don't remember your name and don't recognise you on your photo.

I was very good friends with both Andy and Sean. Sean was a year behind me at WBHS and Andy was another year behind at Rondebosch BH. Andy was a fantastic bloke who became really into surfing, winsurfing and rock climbing. Andy was very much in love with Edwina Baker (they had a kid together). One day whilst on contract in some small mining town up north near Bloem, Andy and some friends were fooling around  practicing their climbing on a six foot wall when he accidentally fell and knocked his head. The next day Andy sadly passed away.
I saw Sean at Andy's funeral, Sean was at that stage working in London.

That's very sad for me. Esspecialy reading the details. I liked him a lot to. We spent standard 6 and 7 in Mrs Ralph class. We were only about 15 pupils even though the other class was so much bigger. Don't know why.
I still remember his voice and the way he would when he would make fun of me. I was often for lunch at the Morrows place on sunday. They would usely invite someone from ivans work. Aundrien was a good friend of they also turned up often on sundays for lunch.
Do you have Seans adress, or at least some more details.

Georg, no unfortunately I don't have Seans address. If I bump into one of the Bakers I'll see what I can do.
