yes, most of my friends are also included in that group. some of them are not even sure if they will be called back or if they will see the town of oranjemund again

Paulus, I think in the short term, it will get quiet, but this town will never die.... it might take a good few years, tourism will pick up and that blerrie KUdu gas has to come online sometime......... I do not beleive the current management will allow the town just to die... It is reassuring to see that the garden guys are still watering all the public lawns and parks...... I actually make a point, of going over to these humble chaps.... and complimenting them on their sterling efforts..... I don't think anyone ever praises them for the important job they do......

Good  on  you Mike ...  like the till operators , waiters ,  does not matter how  simple  or  low ranking one thinks their job  is ... all the difference is made by engaging people , a bit of  chatter , and yes compliments . .. can  spur one on to do better ...
To see  sometimes  requires that you  first believe .

I was just talking to my Butchery Supervisor, he informed me, as an eyewitness, that he was at the bus stop this morning, and he counted seven, yep, seven busses that were leaving to the north.....

And....so we empty out....

I also heard from a person who drove from Rosh Pinah to Oranjemund, late yesterday afternoon, that the cars. loaded with people and goods, just kept on coming.....heading home to the North... one of the busiests times he has ever seent that road....

I have always said this phrase at Christmas Time,  and not in a racist way, more in a factual sense...

The Ovambo's go Home to Ovamboland...
The Coloured's Head Home To Rehoboth....
The White's go back Home to Cape Town...
and......

We , Oranjemunders....well we stay just here.....at home in Oranjemund.....
