Namdeb is intending to have a "show" day on the 15th and 16th of July 2009. The purpose of the event is to show the Namdeb employees the purpose of the Namdeb processes and where it fits in totality in the De Beers Pipeline (from exploration to final sales).

Our intention is to make it a family day and to incorporate the private sector. We therefore request that you please raise this issue at your next meeting.

Please note that all things are still in the planning phase but here are some of the ideas we are considering:

1)       It will be compulsory for all Namdeb employees to attend.

2)       Stalls for the private sector will be free but, we request that each business partaking to drive an advertising campaign for the event.

3)       The idea is for the community to have fun.

Shades of the old heirachy! "It will be compulsory for all Namdeb employees to attend." - wow!

@Cherry, thats what I thought also...... Kinda like a teacher telling their kids what to do.... NObody likes being told... YOU WILL.....

I have never been a big fan of so called "Teambuilding" initiatives ..... if you are employed by a company to do a job.,.... it's quite simple...this is why we employed you...this is why you receive a salary.... just do your job and we pay you....

You always get some arty farty that comes up with these teambuilding tosh.....things....

That sort of "order" is rather insulting; there's nothing worse than "team" building if everyone's not invested in it; I think Namdeb are wasting time and money which they could rather use to look at an inclusive sustainability study using Namdeb employee ideas.

It also fascinates me that they make the assumption that their employees do not understand their raison d'etre - sounds like a snow job and rather paternalistic - what's the payoff for Namdeb?  There has to be one - this is not an altruistic move ...?

To see  sometimes  requires that you  first believe .

One of the the things I hate most - when I am told I HAVE to be somewhere, when I know it's not going to lead to something, and is going to waste my time for sure.  I'd rather read the TV's instruction manual which was translated by Chinese, and count the spelling mistakes - lot more fun!
