Hope he is a good dentist and not like the one who did my teeth in oranjemund...do you all remember Dr Clements....he had hands like baseball gloves..he made me scared of dentists...have this phobia of them now...he ruined my life....

Dr Clements .. his wife remides me  of Mrs Doubtfire  from the movie .. she would never allow him to  lift anything heavy , " his hands  were  the income " she said .. therefore  one would  see this strapping woman  lugging  suitcases  packing the car etc .. also did most of the driving ..
another thing i remember about her . was  the doctors and dentists got peugot 404 cars .. she would drive  around  town like a bat from hell ...
now  to the Dr Clements ..  he once   did the injection  into the apex of my jaw  ( why into the apex ? Bertie ) ..  accidentally brushed a  major  facial nerve .. I  passed out on the  dentist chair ... yup am  scared to this day .. I sweat profusely  during  any dental  procedure  no matter how calm reassuring  or gentle they are ...

@Sandy..I am exactly the same...get panic attack..hyper ventalate.....he hit a nerve with me awell and when i jumped and screamed he hit me and shouted....terrifying experience...

I remember his wife very well, my dad got rabbit from her......My Dad once told me when they packed the landrover when on route to luderitze and she did all the lifting..

Sorry guys I dont like this topic.  I HATE DENTISTS.  I prefer to be on the other side of the sharp stuff....

@ Sandy - I don't know about the "apex" of the jaw. The apex of a tooth is the tip of the root, though. He probably hit one of 2 cranial nerves - the trigeminal nerve, or facial nerve.  Fortunately in the 16 years of practice I only had 1 patient who fainted.  Quick calculation adds up to about 60 000 appointments later. So 1 faint not bad, I'd say.

into the corner at the back of the jaw ...  first did all the gummy  injections  to work on a tooth at the back  then did the  number into the corner of the jaw ..  face was  dead  for a day ...

Ok Sandy, If it was for working in the bottom jaw, it was a "mandibular block" or "alveolar block".  Then he simply shoved the needle in too quickly, or doesn't know his anatomy very well.  If it was at the top, also too quick, or too high.  Nowadays you simply shouldn't feel injections!
(Unless the dentist had a few too many the previous night and has an uncontrollable tremor!)  : nono1:
