Yes ,,  I do have a gripe .. I see  many old joined members ,, and yes  sooo many new members .. they  give a  name or  skuilnaam .. no  pic  , no age .. minimal  info ..   some of us may remeber them but need a reference point  to work from ,, ( mother time  is a bitch  and  covers over memory till  we get a prod )  come on this is an open forum .. whats so wrong woth saying what era  you came from  etc  and yes indeed show your face ...

I agree with you Sandy, Oranjemund may be a small place, but lots of people lived there and left again.

We are however a large family and need a hint here and there, i had a chat recently with a member and was surprised how much he remembered me from 1 Plant days

He even knew i played guitar and Mouthorgan the same time, must have seen me on Beauvallon LOL

Georg I recall I mentioned it jokingly before .. this is not an anonomous internet dating site where people  put their fantasy character out ,,   this  is an open forum  where we are supposed to reconnect .. and time after time  I see a new member .. with either a strange name ,or their  real name but  no  avatar , no  age no nothing ??  what they hiding ??  might as well not bother taking up the  web space .. we all have been changed by time ..  thats life .. what we got  to be afraid of ?

Thats right, some people have aprehensions to give away data in the net.....

I remember how brave you where with your politcal open letters, i would advise not to give away to much info , never show your adress and telephone nr  in the net....

Think it over what could happen.

Georg .. I am the open book .. I have nothing to hide . If you see I  talk  openly about me   because I talk from my heart  ..  nothing wrong with that , and if other folk have problems   with  it  I  regard it as their problem ..  my letters appeared in major publications .. with my name and address  .. I dont give a fig .. During the  dark 80's  when my mother got involved in  the ' struggle " and left wing politics , a decision I respected , after all she had completed  her raising of us and  what she  decided to do with her  life thereafter was her pleasure and free choice  , me I just  had to be there for support and the odd  reality check  ..  our phones were tapped ..  we  were under surveilance ..  in danger  of being jailed  ..  been there done it ..  and doing it again .. and yes remain politely outspoken ..

Just a quick note from my side - many times I went to people's profiles to help me figure out from which era they are, or to see ANYthing that could make that connection in the grey matter that I actually DO know that member...  just to see an empty page.

So PLEASE people give some more info!  Age is just a number,
More info ---> more people recognize you ---> you get to share more memories with more friends!  It's that simple.

I agree Mike....but it shouldn't take to long to fathom it out. As I've said before I had NEVER even sat in front of a computer (2yrs ago next month) when O'mund online started. Picked it up pretty quicklyAsk questions here and Michael or Georg will gladly help you along. Please if you can type a "Skuilnaam" you can type your real name.

   Hello Sandy, I understand where you are coming from, and go along with your gripe.

Looking at the Membership 701 members, and if you look at their posts!!!!

They may not want to participate in the forum, and there are many other reasons for not doing so.

I use the TAG TOONFANDANGL its something I have used for many years, if you look
up my profile you will  find my name there.

A lot of the older Oranjemunders will not have the computer skills as Diana pointed out

Internet identity theft is a bit of a problem and I can understand the older users not wanting to give out to much information although this is a closed forum, as far as membership information.

Again looking at the list of members they registered back in 2007 and have never made a post they my well be happy to just be able to look in from time to time....................Frank

 Thanks Frank ...  yes picked up who you were from  profile ... It would be interesting to know how many are on facebook etc  and freely  exchanging info ??  me only recently gone on .. not active just put me there as a lurker  in case   anybody from my interesting past  is looking for me ... technically   if  anybody was looking for me   they would find  me on sareunited  as well  thats schools and military camps ... thats where   Bev Coates found me ...

What about starting a topic entitled ''who am I'' and people can start a section under there own name and give a brief summary of themselves incorporating the years they spent in O'mund and also there maiden name; parents; siblings etc etc.............just a thought!
