Hi Mike,
           The writer was JVS (John Victor Scott) then news editor of the Windhoek Advertiser, later Gallery Correspondent (political reporter) for the Cape Times and long time writer of the humorous and very popular John Scott column. He was editor of the Cape Times until he retired a couple of years ago.
He and Delia came to visit us for a short sailing holiday here in the Bay of Islands which, despite my boasting about the delights of our local coastline, was spent mostly dodging rain squalls.
