Thanks for the B/day wishes Barbara and Diana. I am sorry to say that it was one of the crappiest B/days I've had in years, with heavy emphasis on the "CRAP" bit.Unfortunately, I picked up a stomach virus of some sort, and have been projectiling from both ends so to speak.( Is this a little too much information?) LOL. It was only a 24 hour thing, but I haven't been able to touch food or drink since Saturday evening. So to answer your question Georg, no I didn't have an actual hangover, but had all the symptoms of one.
So I see you too are a Scorpio  Diana?........ Beware the sting .... Go the Scorps .....

Hey Barbara, what's Steven up to these days? I remember he left for the UK to take up a position with the local constabulary. Did he pursue this line of work? Does he still reside in the UK? Your Dad Stan used to play bridge with my my Dad occasionally. Does he still play?

I would love to have bottled up half our temperature today and sent it over to you Barbara, as it was a real scorcher. We hit 39.8 degrees, which was the hottest November day since 1913 apparently. February is traditionally our hottest month, so a HOT Summer is on the cards guess.

Hi Nicky

I am another fellow scorpion. Sorry to here you were not well on you B'day, hope you have recovered.
Steven is still in the UK and so am I. He did not persue that career, he went into be a chef but that got in the way of his rugby......he was a good ruby player, only gave up because of age. He now cycles and has done the 3 peaks 3 times already. He is the manager of a roofing company and doing very well.
Dad remembers your Dad very well, he was his bridge partner. Dad doesn't play bridge anymore, He sends his regards

Hi Mike, just back in time for Paula, who arrives back in the UK tomorrow. At least you wont have her creeping up on you in the Spar   I beleive the Aussies won't drink Fosters. Is this true Nicky????
Better to burn out then fade away!

Hi Julie and Mike,
How are you both? You are absolutely spot on there Julie, we have lived in Oz now for about 15 years, and I am yet to see an Aussie drink the stuff. They seem to drink anything from VB (Victorian Bitter), Emu to Tooheys and anything in between, but no Fosters. It's really wierd hey, I mean everyone has this perception of an Aussie having a Fosters in one hand, putting a shrimp on the barbie with the other. I actually drink Kilkenny, but was recently told by an Irishman that it is really not that popular back in Ireland .... same story, I guess.

Mike, I hope you enjoy the ales ... BierSuip

@ Paula....bring it on sister........ As you see I managed to avoid you for a whole week in the shop and even skipped the country when my informed me that you were lurking around the store...

:emot19:

@ Nicky, what I do when I go on leave, is purchase a variety of foreign beers, take them back to the flat, sit on the balcony overlooking the strand beach and have a few sundowners.... funny enough Killkenny was also in the mix, Mind you so was Guiness and Stella Artois and Kingfischer from India.....  like trying out the foreign Brew Bru.

@Julie ... I braaied today, but lay off the Aussie beer, only had 2 Stella Artois and Some foreign Pilsner, mixed with 2 Indian beers..... i had twinges of gout, so thought it best to lay low.....
