I remember Daniel - he was such a honey.  I'm sure cora knew about the odd sweet going missing but turned a blind eye.  Paul, those brass pictures are ringing a bell - they were in the "larney" area that was partitioned off from the rest of the cafe, am I right?  We used to love that area to sit and smoke - nice hideaway - we could see between the wooden slats who was coming in to the cafe and quickly get rid of the smokes, ashtray etc. if necessary.

Another image that sticks in my head when i think of cora's cafe is of kids standing at the counter, in swimming costumes, shivering, hair wet and plastered to their heads just run in from the swimming pool, money in hands extended over the counter trying to get served first to get back to the pool.  strange what images stick in one's head.
Oh yes. i remember standing in the "line" with all the kids and only a couple of cents needed to buy anything. Cool-drink! iron brew was my favorite and quite cheep compared to coke and fanta.
I bet the kids still stand their coming from the swimming pool. Or daesn't the Cafe` exsist anymore?
What happened to Cora? She was everybodies darling!

The cafe area is now a coffee shop, travel agency and a steak house there used to be a grass area outside the cafe I remember the after school activities there any problems during school would be sorted out on the grass area

I remeber the cafe for Handburgers, hotdogs and the newspaper on a Sunday. My favourite was the soft twirly icecream for 6c and Saturday morning treats with my mom - an icecream float!  Sat afternoon before and after the matrinee was madness at the cafe.

I have only discovered this sight today and tried to read as much of it as I can. The thing that strikes me is that we all seem to remember the same things. I was just telling my son the other day about the super sandwiches, I have never had a sandwich that could beat the super sandwich that Cora made. Remember how pretty and tanned she always was, I think she was also a supervisor at the swimming pool.

Hi Bobby, Remember you well. You lived down the road from us, had blond curly hair and the nicest personality, (I,m not flirting, happily married), but you were one of the nicest people in Oranjemund at the time that I lived there. Will send you an e-mail about the family.

I want to post a few photo's, but I will have to go and study the whole manual again about how to resize them  -  way to big to post.

I think the photo I'm talking about was from 1975  -  when we still fitted into our skins very nicely =  no creases, pleats or stretches, if you know what I mean!!!!!
