I believe that the De Beers Chairmans fund will build a museum in Oranjemund for the artifacts and the shipwreck so it will stay in our beautifull little town and the tourist can come and see it in all its glory. it will not go to spain or portugal and will stay where it was found in Namibia. So there is a G-D after all. So De Beers has come through for us all!

Ok.... Let's light the fire a wee bit....

So our old friends, the Professional Portuguese Shipwreck Archaeologists, Francisco Alves and his sidekick Miquel (spelling) have returned to oranjemund to continue their research, they are here for a month and are currently examining parts of the wooden structure of the wreck in an undisclosed location in Oranjemund....

I was given a piece of newspaper where the namibian Minister of finance allocated just over 5 Million Namibian Dollars for the Shipwreck...(will post the article soon)

Francisco and Miquel hosted a farewell braai on thursday night for a few of us.... considering it was a wet mist night in Oranjemund, it was very pleasant next to the roaring fire. They left yesterday morning. Francisco reckons they should be returning early next year to give a workshop...... He also showed me all the work that they had done, rolls and rolls of transparencies which the team had copies of each of the timber beams..... all this stays in Namibia and they will take a digitized copy back to Europe....

Ja, but, I do believe the German Government is involved in the financing of the project....
