The Sydney Dust Storm....

I found that I could kinda relate to this tale..... Funny how the Sandstorms in Oz are Orange and ours are brown.....

On Sunday, My neighbour, Andre, crossed the fence and joined me for a few dops and an informal fire..... we chatted late into the night, or at least until the booze was exhausted..... Anyhow, Andre had been doing some survey work up at Bogenfels the previous week and reckoned that the wind had been pumping something awful up there...sand everywhere..... so much so , that you needed to cup your hand over your mouth to breath..... he was surveying on a quad bike and reckons as he drove forward through the howling namib sands, he would peer behind him to watch his tracks..... 4 m behind.... the tracks would be covered by the shifting sands....

I also read somewhere, that in 2012 and onwards, the sun will be exceptionally potent..... Australia is gonna become a very very very dry and hot place to reside.....

Hello Michael, just a comment on the dust storms we had here, I was in Brisbane last week when the storm came through.

It was not as bad as the one that hit Sydney, although its the same storm but it had dissipated itself by the time it got to us.

It moved up the coast and by the time it got to Cairns they called it a white out, which by all accounts was a bit of a novelty to
our northern cousins.

The reason its Orange is that's what Australia is,  Ayers Rock and Central Australia Orange..................

We are the driest continent on the planet.....................but 'hey'............we have plenty of Beer and Rum, and thanks for the warning

I was up north in central Queensland when the dust arrived. Felt pretty weird as there was all this dust in the air, but not a breath of wind. Coming in to land at Mackay airport on Monday and the dust was a hanging - looked like a line drawn on a piece of paper, that is until the plane entered the cloud of dust.

I believe weather patterns are starting to change, worldwide, this could only be the beginning........ Australia is going to dry out even further over the next decade....
