Just  got a  heartstopping  email from Eddie my Stepfather informing me that  he  had a heart attack  the op ( seems it was a stent will get more details )  successful  and he now recuperating .. his  sons tried to get a hold of me  to inform me  but somehow  did  not pan out  , strange  as  he has my contact details ... anyhow  this  is to wish another old Oranjemunder a speedy recovery ,, Eddie is one of the old tough crowd so will get through this setback  with ease , but yes disturbing that we have to hear of  our older generation  showing signs of slowing down ... So add your prayers  for Ed ...

Ja well Eddie  left O,mund  about  1959 .. so yes  me was only a squeeker ..  he holds a special place in my heart for the  love , joy in life  and friendship he gave to my Mom  in the last 21 years of her life . Ony folk like  Bob  and possibly  Tom Lawrie would remember him . not many old folk left over ...

A@ Sandy: thanks for the heads-up. Eddie and I were having an ongoing discussion about his book when he went offline with no explanation a few weeks ago. I see he has just breezed into my inbox again; obviously indestructible. We have some catch-up to do.
You're right about old tickers ceasing tocking. Mine hiccuped a couple of years ago but my cardio sliced out a few non-performing bits and pieces and slapped in others, so now I'm fit for another few decades of carousing,. Good as a full retread, I'm told.
Re Eddie, he used to thrash me at squash back in the late Fifties, so possibly now's my chance to send him a challenge. I might be in with a hope this time.
Regards,
Bob.
