Tarducken

After Sandy did such a fabulous job of marketing "Tarducken"  I went out and bought one.

So yesterday afternoon I popped it into the oven for 3.5 hours (3.5 KG), preparing it for our last nights Christmas Dinner.  Wow it really was a great piece of meat.  Or shall I say, 3 pieces of meat.  I also made a sauce for it with cranberry juice, cranberry jelly, beef stock cube, a few cloves, 2 bay leaves, chopped onion and tomato.  Once all cooked together I put it through a sieve and thickened the sauce/gravy with a little flour.  Well I must say that it really went down a treat.  Thanks Sandy for your excellent marketing job!

Now we will be eating Tarducken till easter as there is still at least 2 KG left.....

Kind of  like .. a round beastie  with  short legs ,,, they snap off the legs  before smoking stuffing  and freezing it ..     will post a pic of it ...  another  smaller beastie lurkng in the  freezer for whenever ...

WoW! This is weird....... I was on the line today to the Spar Buyer , seeking geese for Xmas dinners, and he sighed ,.... Moaned that he was trying to find something called Tarducken..... and had I heard of it...... Hahahaha!

Now if only I could find who imports the Tarducken.......

Checkers bring it  in ... in fact  I think I'm going  there this afternoon  to  stock up  .. seen  some in the freezers ...

Sandy, do your bit for the SPAR group.... try and find out if they import it themselves or is their an agent for the blerrie Turduckens......

According to the Checkers Ad in to-days Argus. Turducken is deboned Turkey, duck and Chicken rolled into one generous toast. Selling for R99.99 per kg. Beasties with removed short legs? Am I missing something here Sandy.
So Michael get yourself a couple of Turkeys stuff a duck inside then stuff a Chicken inside of the duck and Voila you can sell Turducken's a le Mike. Don't forget to break the little legs off.

Prob diana  is  the beastie is smoked as well ... so when done  its the  kosher  equivalent of a gammon .. especially so the rich duck meat ... buy  one  and try it ... mmm just remember  to baste regularly ...

I'm not a big fan of turkey or duck...dry birds ain' meant to be eaten.....

Gammon fan I am though....

Don't like turkey either but if it tastes like gammon will certainly give it a go.

I nearly bought one today, a mini, 1.5 kgs , R185.00 ,not even enough to feed 4 people, big rip off i think!!!!!!!!!!!!!
