Not an Oranjemund tale, but one that an ex Oranjemunder would be able to relate to.

I was having a chat with an ex Kleinzee chap, the discussion was about the Oppenheimer Sports Weekends that occurred in Kleinzee back in the day...(around the late 70's early 80's)

The week before the Oppenhiemer group was due to arrive, a group of local divers were sent into the Altantic ocean to remove large numbers of crayfish, that were then relocated to more "safer" dams on land, old exposed bedrock, these were jam packed with the buggers....

During the course of the weekend, the Big guns got to don a few wetsuits and go crayfishing in the safety of the dams.... off course this was easy going and great tales of bravery were recalled around the crayfish braai that evening...

Well..... I believe it......

Don't know If I have already posted this.... but here goes....

Before independence..... almost all the white folk in town drank CASTLe LAGER..... i WENT UP TO WHK and learned how much nicer and purer the WHK beer was, back then before it was being marketed to the Yuppie White South African market......... when I returned home to Oranjemund, I was deemed an outcast for drinking a "Black" beer, you know the joke about drinking piss............ anyhow within a few short months, the new GM , Keith Whitelock took over...... and what did he drink? Tafel Lager........ well at the next company function I had the chance to gatecrash..... there was the entire Knob management all drinking TAFEL lager.... just because the "boss" drank it....... I know a lot of top folk did'nt like Keith, but make no mistake..... the real workers rated him......

Just my 2 cents.....
