In no particular order..... as I drove around this morning, I had my trusty camera with me... just took 10 total random snaps.....

Who knows ..... somebody out there might like to see them....

Just my 2 cents...

On Snap number 4..... see the car on the left of the snap? Well.... that's one of those magic cars....... that does not have to stop at 4 way stops...... this guy did'nt even slow down...... just shot right on through to the other side.............. perhaps it's one of those toyota's that does' not have working brakes in it......

Thanx Mike! Great feeling to see pics of our town... any pics of the town bring back memories and that amazing feeling of a happy childhood that only Oranjemund could bring.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for great pics. Re pic number four: what are those huge tanks for and where in town are they situated?
Regards
Bob.

Bob, those are the town water reservoirs. The pumps at Fellamn Wells and the river bank pump the water up to 2 reservoirs on Swartkops hill, chlorinate it and flows by gravity to the 4 dams in town. They are around Pigsville area, perhaps slightly southward.
Here the town is given water pressure from the booster pump station located at these reservoirs.
The dams are in the yellow block.
All things electrical contain smoke. Making it come out is easy; getting it back in? ... yeah right!!!

Always wondered when the old pumps with the platforms around them were used.
These were superceded I think around '81 somewhere by more wellpoints (borehole type) with submersibke pumps. Judging by the casings the boreholes could even be some of the old holes that were redrilled with new casings inserted.
I found the dates on old plans at Town Electric in 1999 that referred to the "new riverbank pumps"
Mike Voden, you might remember something like that...

Hehehehe!, More like pure fluke.... I was going through old newsletters looking for images of a particular person, when that article cropped up!
