SMS SCAMS ON THE GO BE WARNED

I received an sms today saying I have won 95000 on a Nokia Yearly Promotion, I decided to Google it and there is a Police docket exposing the villain  a "Nigerian"

There's another, e-mail scam from "ABSA" requesting info for an annual database update. My suspicions  led me to e-mailing ABSA. There response was that it is not from them... SO IT'S A SCAM!!!

Also received the Nokia one about winning R95000.00. The first thing these people wanted to know was our bank details, but we asked them to send us confirmation to our postal address instead. I wonder how long we'll have to wait...................

I've been receiving a mail from "ABSA" daily asking to update my banking details, etc. etc...... they tried every angle, sending from different addresses, wording it differently trying to hook me...........i know it's a scam so i just ignore them altho was very tempted to reply telling them what i think of them trying to scam people of their hard earned cash - makes me mad!.  This carried on for about 2-3 weeks getting one sometimes two every day, eventually they stopped sending when they saw i wasn't biting.  I've actually kept them all and want to send them on to ABSA.........surely they must be able to trace these mails thru the sender's e-mail addresses, IP addresses or something?

Delia, send an e-mail to this address [direct@absa.co.za]detailing the mails you recieved. I sent mine to them and have been forwarded to their forensics dept for further investigation.

Thanks Andrew, will do so.  I want these bastards caught - i know in the bigger picture as to what's going down in this country, some might see it as small fry - but there's a lot to be said for "the broken window syndrome" that Mayor Guilliani (spelling?) introduced in New York a few years ago, brought crime down radically there - deal with the little crimes hard and fast and it'll have a knock-on effect in reducing bigger crime.

Not that i'm saying stealing someone else's hard earned cash is small fry or a little crime........but i think you all know what i mean.
