Here are the tender documents for those of you that might be interested in buying a retro house on land that you do not own!

How can a person buy a house if you have no clue what the land is going to cost you....  image061

The Question is...... will the land ever be up for sale? All the old timers know that there is diamond's beneath the ground .....

Perhaps thats the answer.  After you buy the land, start digging!
I'm going to locate that spot where we threw that pile of diamonds all those years ago . . . .

You are right Mike, that's why the land is not for sale.

I see the mine has put up a list of the homes on the  notice board at Spar. They also have a description of the buildings and a reserved price for each unit. The reserved prices are between R67 000  up till R94 000..........

Try and see if I can scan that document, it';s a bit on the large size,

Everyone in town is talking about this "event" , with the majority of the locals complaining that the prices are too high...... A few educated people who understand property values, reckon it's a bargain....

My own 2 cents, I think this thing might get ugly... but then who am I.....?

Hi Mike, I tend to agree the prices are too high. I bought a relatively new house when I worked for ESKOM in Kriel for R45,000.00. It was when ESKOM also started to sell off their houses. For me that was a real bargain at that stage.

Yep! and I believe when TCL in Tsumeb sold of their mine houses to their workforce, they gave them away for R1.00 each.... Waiting for confirmation on that tale...

On the noticeboard at Spar there is a breakdown of the valuation of the premises, including an estimated erf price..... these range in the region of R50 000 up till R90 000.....

Gee! It's just desert......  16_1_231

To see  sometimes  requires that you  first believe .

Property values have changed since the list was first put up... they took it away to readjust. The updated sheet with NEW prices will be up on the board tomorrow.

I also heard a business manager in the "private sector" express his keen interest in buying the whole lot at 10k more than the reserve price, fixing them up and letting them out to retired folk who want to enjoy a piece of Oranjemund for the final straight...
If the interest is there then these would again be sold off at a profit.
