Blue Bulls player arrested for murder on Metro Police officer

Just heard this on the news and the Blue Bulls team management has confirmed that one of their players has been arrested last night.

No name was mentioned in the bulletin.  Maybe will be done later when formal charges has been laid.

Does anyone know who it might be? 

Apparently the cop was beaten in the street and died later in hospital by the player.

Nadat die "baie dronk" Bulls- en Blou Bul-stut Bees Roux 'n metropolisieman na bewering só geslaan het dat hy van sy beserings dood is, het hy glo aan hom gesê: "Toemaar, jy is sterk, jy sal nou-nou weer opstaan."

Dit was nadat Roux sers. Ntshimane Johannes Mohale (38) gister in die vroeë oggendure in Hatfield, Pretoria, "hard geslaan, geskop en twee keer opgetel en kop eerste teen die teerpad gegooi het", het 'n ooggetuie gesê.

Volgens mnr. Richard Motegeni, 'n veiligheidswag van EC Security, het Roux selfs sy bewegende motor tot stilstand gebring en teruggekom om Mohale verder te slaan.

Mohale, wat vier jaar in die Tshwane-metropolisie gedien het, was getroud en die pa van twee kinders.

Lt.kol. Eugene Opperman, Gautengse polisiewoordvoerder, het bevestig lede van die Tshwane-metropolisie het Roux in die vroeë oggendure in die omgewing van Schoeman- en Richardstraat in Hatfield weens vermeende dronkbestuur laat stilhou.

"Daarna was daar een of ander onderonsie en 'n metropolisielid is noodlottig aangerand."

Ná die polisie-ondersoek sal daar volgens Opperman meer duidelikheid wees oor wat gebeur het.

Beeld het by ooggetuies verneem Mohale het Roux glo in sy VW Polo na sy huis vergesel omdat die rugbyspeler blykbaar nie in 'n toestand was om te bestuur nie.

Roux het blykbaar gedink Mohale het hom gekaap.

Motegeni het gesê die wit VW Polo het omstreeks 01:36 baie stadig in Schoemanstraat aangery gekom.

"Skielik het 'n groot man en 'n metropolisiebeampte by die bestuurderskant uitgeval."

Die groot man, wat hy later eers verneem het is Bees Roux, was volgens hom onmiddellik bo-op Mohale.

"Hy het geskree: 'Jou dief! Jy wil my kar steel!' en die beampte herhaaldelik hárd in die gesig geslaan, maar die beampte het nie teruggeveg nie.

"Die groot man het die beampte toe twee keer aan die klere aan sy skouer en rug opgetel en hard kop eerste teen die teerpad gegooi."

Volgens Motegeni het Roux die beampte daarna geskop en hom toe na sy motor gehaas – wat glo besig was om baie stadig vorentoe te beweeg.

"Hy het sy motor gaan stop, teruggekeer en die beampte weer begin slaan."

Roux het Motegeni gewaar, glo op hom afgestorm en gevra of hy Mohale se "vriend" is.

"Ek het 'n ent weggehardloop sodat hy my nie ook kon slaan nie. Selfs 'n blinde mens sou kon sien hy was baie dronk," het Motegeni gesê.

Volgens hom het Roux, toe hy besef Mohale kom nie weer by nie, lank oor hom gehurk en hom probeer bybring.

Dis toe hy glo vir hom gesê het: "Toemaar, jy is sterk, jy sal nou-nou weer opstaan."

Nog 'n ooggetuie, wat anoniem wou bly, het Motegeni se weergawe bevestig.

'n Polisiebeampte het vertroulik aan Beeld gesê Roux het op die toneel vir hom gesê hy is gekaap.

"Hy moes egter erg geskok of dronk gewees het, want hy was nie heeltemal by nie," het die beampte gesê.

Mnr. Chris Botha, woordvoerder van Netcare 911-nooddienste, het gesê Mohale is op die toneel dood verklaar.

Sy familie is reeds van sy dood in kennis gestel, maar kon nie gister vir kommentaar bereik word nie.

Me. Dikeledi Lehobye, burgemeesterskomiteelid vir gemeenskapsveiligheid in Tshwane, het gesê die familie is van die Mabopane-omgewing.

Mnr. Ian Schwartz, 'n woordvoerder van die Blou Bulle Maatskappy (BBM), het in 'n verklaring die BBM se "diep meegevoel teenoor die familie van die oorlede beampte" uitgespreek.

Roux verskyn oormôre in die Pretoriase landdroshof op aanklagte van moord en bestuur onder die invloed van drank.

Hy word by die Sunnyside-polisiekantoor aangehou.

I wanted to make jest of the this tale, but in retrospect, when a person loses his life , no matter be he black, purple  or white, it is sad , and tragic, especially when the accused has beed on the piss the whole night.......

We do not know the facts of the case, but the older one starts to become, we can do naught , but shake our heads when the younger generation tend to think that the answer to most disagreements can be solved through violence....

I learned this does not achieve anything, many a year ago.....

Mike, I agree.  There is no excuse for a person to get drunk to such an extent that you lose all inhibitions and then do things like this.  Yes, it will be blown up into a racist thing again ... fact remains that a person has been killed and it was so needless ...

All considered... yes the dude was tanked, so judgement was far from its best... but, big but, the other side of the unexcusable tale is that there have been hi-jackings involving "uniformed officers of the law". How the $^&*# do you tell the difference between a jacker and a McCoy copper at half-1 in the morning...

Yes, I know that I said this whole thing will turn political, but one good question has arisen from it :  How come the murderes of Eugene Terreblanche only had to pay R5000 bail and Bees Roux had to pay R100 000??  Is murder not murder ??  Where is the fairness in that????

Was listening to Cape Talk the other day about just this bail thing. Apparently bail is set as to what money you have...R5000.00 to the guy in the township is worth as much as R100 000 to this Bees guy. He has oversea's accounts and is a bigger flight risk. So the radio tells me.......

Yeah, all good and well. Dude was pissed.....but what provoced the guy to do what he did??. I'm not defending him, but it is no state secret that officers are pigging out on their power and rank in society. Maybe the cop made stupid remarks.....I would also like to know how it is possible for a tanked up dude to "muder with his bare hands", a armed officer.....

A tricky one  indeed ,,,  lets not speculate , let the courts decide ,, as  for the whole uprising of  its a racist killing , makes me sick to the core ,,,  there is always a " rent a  crowd " to make a statement ... the horrible fact is  excessive totally uncontrolled ( partly due to the juice  consumption ) physical force was  used and is not excusable ,,, if he felt  threatened  he was big and burly enough to give the cop a stiff klap and go on his drunken way ...
The unanswered  question  is ,  and we will never know  as  the  cop is dead  ,  is  that  it seems the cop was  possibly upon  recognising  him maybe  trying to get him home safely without  incident  ??  this " privelege' not only  always afforded to the  ANC  elite , but yes granted to  ordinary folk and the famous at  random times ,,  heard it happen ,,,,

Seems  to me one night of misadventure  gone so  horribly   and unnecessarily  tragically wrong ,,,so  sad ...

Any cop stopping cars at that time of the night in Joburg is playing with his life, wonder if he thought this white person would be an easy target to earn some extra cash.
Few people would stand up if Bees gave them a stiff klap and their heads hit the tarmac.
