Ok! I gotta confess, I never got time to go around to the houses and take the pics, Arthus and Jacques are in CPT and I had a bit of running around to do, so I sent my driver, well, he photographed the front gate with the address on it and then the yard, most of the houses are now empty, so you will have to try and match the colours ...

I know it's very unprofessional and I hang my head in shame...   ThatStinks2

Thank you Michael.....cant see too much but it seems that the HUGE rubber tree in the front garden is gone as well as all the pondoks. I moved into Wikkie Steyn's house and he had 3 very fancy pondoks built onto his house. I used one for a study. The front porch was also covered and had a type of hothouse for potplants etc. I heard that at some point the company had all pondoks broken down..whilst the houses were still occupied...is that true?
All that seems to be left over of the pondoks at my old spot is the cement slab it stood upon!

The company never had the pondoks broken down, what did happen, some people sold the pondoks to other householders when they left, and in some cases the Pondoks got stolen as was the case with my dad's pondok at e7-1st.

My father bought the pondok in the mid 70's from one Brian Bowes, when Jock came up for retirement, he moved house, on the first night out the house, whilst moving, the entire pondok was nicked, went awol.... and it was a damn big structure with power...  ThatStinks2

Hey Bertie there's a bit of your old house peeking out in pic 6359. Yes I also remember the Steyns having the front "stoep" enclosed.....sort of semi -circle type affair. I was friends with their daughter when we lived at E5/11th. I remember being there for a sleep over when my father came round to tell me dear Alfred had arrived in this world.
