Aubrey Baker and the Compressor Workshop!

I was told of this short tale this past week.

Aubrey Baker was the foreman at the compressor workshop at Uubvley. He would arrive at his office after the artisans had started to work, his arms usually stuffed with files and papers. His routine to open his door to his office was a balancing act, second to none.... Balancing the files and papers, he would insert the key into the door of his office, turn it, and with a shove from his shoulder force the door open.....

The artisans knew this routine, so one morning they came to the workshop a wee bit earlier ....

When Aubrey, arrived, inserted the key, and heaved his shoulder into the wooden door, he was astonished to see his entire office door fall over onto the floor..... somebody had removed the screws from the hinges....

I was also told about one Ray Roberts in the compressor workshop, that would paint the compressors in the workshop in the colours of the union Jack.....

I think I remember Aubrey Baker, he had the most beautifully varnished yacht and smoked a pipe, even while sailing. I remember him for his comment on an overfed cormorant trying to take off from the Pink Pan, as it flapped and "ran" on the surface of the water...................................... " Must have his Jesus boots on!" chuckled Aubrey....................

Hi All
Thanks for the story Mike. I was a first year appie working in the compressor shop at the time. If I can remember it was Aubrey's birthday that day. He was not impressed and everyone in the workshop ducked under the work benches after that with much chuckling going on. Artisans in the workshop at the time were Jock Alexander, Barry Milsom, Brian Woods and a couple of guys whose names I forget.
