Here are the photo's of the Dresden China tea set. This dates back to 1928. It was a wedding gift to my grandparents and was lovingly packed away and brought out for the first time at my father (Fred Boehme's) christening in 1933. I've included a few other photo's you may find of interest. I still have the iron my grandparents used back then and probably also used in Elisabeth Bay. The hats and coat were also my grandfathers and date back to between 1924-1930. How/Why on earth would he wear such a jacket in the hot weather of the area I don't know. Probably didn't get to wear it much thats why they still in such good condition. The diningroom suite that was also a wedding gift, from his parents, is still in use in my diningroom. There are also many of his tools that my father kept in his gagrage and are still there. Sentimental old me holds onto all these things which I claimed from my Aunt (my fathers sister).

Thank you Diana. every one of those items are precious. the cups. tea set . coat and top hat . Grandpa most probably wore them when attending an smart event in the rec club hall. I understand that people always dressed smartly for events held there - think back - even in our times , Going to the bioscope requierd smart dress . My wife had a teaset - very similar to yours. decorated in gold end red all along the edges. When we moved to O Mund - a closed town then many years ago , we packed everything in wooden crates - sent by rail to Bitterfontein , then on a Jowells lorry . needless to say - nevermind the propper packing , very little remained of the fragile items - including the dresden set . At least with your help , I can show my children what it looked like! Thanks again , it means so much to us.

I think to be correct, it should be Meisner not Dresden.

Worth a fortune

We have visited the Manufacture on several occasions

Cup sets ( Cup and plate) were available at about € 500 each, you can work out how much yours is worth today.

People refer to Meisener as white gold.........

Georg , My sister have some Villeroy & Boch porcelain plates - and it look very much like the items you have posted - I really appreciate all of this
During the scourch earth policy of the brittish in Sa during the 1900 's , my grandpa dug a hole and burried some of the household items . the hardware survived , but his books were termite eaten - I have one book which is still readable , but it is written in Gothic type - it takes me a long ime to decipher one page

Thanx for that infomation Daddy Georg. My Ouma just always refered to it as Dresden China therefore so did I. Soooo you mean I'm actualy quite rich and can now afford an airticket to visit you

That is a posibilty i can not estimate. But you see the prices on my picture, we have some Meisner here, not as fancy and costing less, i cup set cost about € 100 there is nothing below that price.

Yours have a design and are considered antique, i guestimate on cup set 200-300

To check if it is Meisner you should have the symbol of 2 crossed swords on the bottom of each item.

At Henniek

Gothic is no problem for me to read, unles you talk about Sutherlin which is handwritten and not understood by new generations. My mom was able to write and read it since the grand ma could only write Sutherlin

I guess lots of Germans in Kolmanns also wrote Sutherlin.
