Palm tree leaves

With all of the newer enterprises in Oranjemund, I'm surprised that no one has approached Namdeb to see if it would be feasible to tidy up the palm trees around 7th.Ave. near the museum and opposite Spar. The dead leaves are now becoming a safety hazard for children and adults alike, where someone could easily "loose' an eye from the sharp needles.

Maybe the taxi drivers who park their cars nearby could earn an extra income by trimming down these unkempt overgrown trees whilst waiting for passengers..............?????????

Mmm  Mike ,,  maybe you as a proud still o'munder relocated  should set an example .. get shears and set into the task .. show people up that dont think ??? while working away mutter about what ails this town,,, attract attention ...

Sandy, actually I thought of that last week but think of all the looks I would get when people walking by hear me muttering to myself whilst cutting back those infringing leaves and branches....................!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those Phoenix palms are completely out of place in Oranjemund: wrong desert, wrong end of Africa. The menace of the spines can never be contained and will continue to harm children and animals for as long as they exist.
Best approach: chop down the palms and replace with olive trees. That way you a drought resistent tree, an annual harvest of usable fruit, shade and friendly vegetation.

Somebody in a position of authority must be reading this site.... lo and behold.... two chaps , armed with a ladders and a cutting device have started to chop down the hanging branches... on the palm tree's..... looking tidy and neat.... Well done to whoever took the initiative.....

If there was no improvement, I was going to cut the dead leaves off on our next visit........ Oh well
