Talking to an ex Oranjemunder, Karin, now living in Alexander Bay. Beauvallon has been taken over by an experienced farming consortium. They have already sown Lucerne and other crops. The Orange tree's that were destroyed are being taken out and are being transplanted with Avocado Tree's. The camping area is getting an upgrade and will be restored to it's former glory.

The local community will this time get profit sharing out of the venture, with jobs being created. Seems it will take 5 years for the venture to turn a profit.... nice to see that sanity has prevailed....

Sounds good. Traveling on the North Bank Road Sunday I saw an area being irrigated.

Hopefully lessons learnt , you dont just " give land to inexperienced folk ,, sadly so a good manager / facilitator is required ,, read the debacle of the game farm bought from our tax money that Ms Joemat Pedersen apparently got  a kickback of 100 g's ,,, This farm was bought for 100 " previously disadvantaged  women " most turned out to be ANC volunteers  with no clue  how to run a game farm ,, all went  to ruin ,,  SILLY FECKERS  WHEN WILL THEY LEARN ??
To see  sometimes  requires that you  first believe .

They need to send a delegation to Zim to see how effective farming is now. I saw many clients/friends highly productive farms servicing the world wide export market turn to dust.

I drove along the North bank road this afternoon to Rosh Pinah, as we ascended the big dune behind Hohenfels, I glanced across to Beauvallon, it was nice to see the small farm dam filled with water again and the crop circles had water spraying over them..... will be interesting to see how it looks in a year from now.....
