Anyone else read this today? Wonder what the Buchters make of it...

"Harbour town Luederitz is now called !NamiNĂ¼s, which means "embrace" in local Khoekhoegowab, a Khoisan language."

Firstly  were there any " disadvantaged by German invasion " living on that inhospitable rocky outcrop that makes luderitz ?/ doubt  so ?, only crazy diamond hunters would set up home on rocks ?/ so why change it ,,  to sanitise ,  to meet political agenda  ie filling int he blocks  of " transformation ' ?/ aargh  ,, they no  better  no  worse than the colonials  and the rest //  Grrr

jip , saw that in local newspaper - but also that over a hundred vultures were deliberately poisoned by the locals in Caprivi , by poisoning a elephant carcass . Because they poach game, and elephants ,taking only the tusks. The culprits do not like vultures because vultures are the whistle blowers on the poachers activities .-
I don't think a name change of the area will ever change the nature of a bunch of ignorant flint - stones

So sad to see them changing the name of Luderitz. Will Swakop, Windhoek etc also be changed in the future?

Adriaan Van Rooyen

Well, whatever they want to call it ,Luderitz will still be Luderitz ,don't think the German folk there are happy though.....

As per my first comment, "Wonder what the Buchters make of this?".

Well turns out that they ain't impressed, nobody asked them if they wanted the name of their town changed...
