a woman of two in the us has stunned doctors by apparently coming back from the dead. velma thomas's heart had stopped beating three times and she was clinically brain dead for 17 hours."her skin had started hardening, herhands and toes were curling up.there was no life there" her son tim said. but 10 minutes after her life support system was shut down and doctors were preparing to take her organs for donation, the 59 yr old woman woke up and asked for her son.

now 17 hrs is one of a long time!!!!!!!!

i was only clocked out for 9 minutes and am back.

this woman is very very very lucky to still be here.

If she was clinicaly dead, it means there was no blood circulation too. No blood in your brain means no oxygen. No oxygen causes sevier damage.
I've heardof people being "reanimated" (manualy) for 1/2 an hour. Their brain was so badly damaged, they needed 24 hour attention to handle just anything.
So the story seams very strange.

I believe in near-death experiences and miracles, but in this particular case, I find it hard to believe that sge was clinically dead for that long and 'came back to life'. I'm convinced that there was either a medical error somewhere or this is just a publicity stunt.

@ Patricia - I agree with you.  Must have been human error/mis-diagnosis.  After so long, no way.  Maybe if there were very low temperatures involved, brain-dead maybe, but clinically dead, hu-uh!

I believe in "out of the body astral projections" ,  near death experiences where the soul and body is protected by 'The Light and Force of life' but the soul is then commanded back to the body, sometimes unwillingly even.  I know that people who have drowned and had been declared 'dead' by doctors,  have been brought back to 'life'  -  logic explanation for that  -  heart slows down, brain & other organs use less oxygen etc.  We know that there are recorded incidents where people had woken up from a coma after many years.  But in all of this the body never really stops functioning.

To be declared clinically dead and regor mortis already setting in, then after 17 hours wake up with everything still functioning normally?  Like Barb said  -  no comment.
