Ok Dadswa, here goes..

I'm loving every second of it, when I came over in November already it was like a duck to water.  The space and fresh air has lifted my spirits.  I think I got out of Oranjemund just in time, felf like I was being smothered there and knew if I didn't leave I would crack.

Had to laugh though at the bank this side, we had travellers cheques that we wanted to deposit and the guy at the teller says that the travellers cheques will have to be on hold for seven days to clear, so me having worked in the bank says to him, but they are classed as cash, he then said, yes, but they must still be on hold for the seven days. I then said ok, then I would like to cash all of the travellers cheques for cash, can I do that?  He said, oh yes you can do that, so there I was changing the travellers cheques to cash then depositing it into our account and hey presto, cash on tap!
(shame, it takes all kinds to make the world go round. hehe)

The weather here has been overcast but not cold, sitting in a T-shirt now.  The shop is a whole other story, I like to cook and bake but the brand and product names are different so it's taking me a bit more time and a few baking flops to find the right stuff.  The cream soda that they have here looks like lemonade and tastes like vanilla.  I'm planning on makeing "Karringmelk beskuit" today and have the men out tracking down the ingredients for me, so we will see what they come back with (it's like Christmas, you never know what you going to get hehe)

I love that everything is so green here after living in the sand dunes for so long which i know has it's on beauty but have had enough of that for now.

The cars are another thing, you don't see rusted old cars driving around or cars that are hold together with wire and string like one does in SA and Namibia.

So there you go for now Dadswa, I'm loving it here!!

Andre is my brother-in-law and Chris grew up with us lot in Oranjemund.

You have to write down the looooooooong number of each bill in order to get it excanged to Rand.

I do it now different....Pay with credit cards and draw cash with Euro cheque card from ATMS

"Karringmelk beskuit" is a rusk (it's a bread dough that you dry out in the oven) that you dunk in your coffee in the morning when you don't have time for breakfast or if you feel like something to eat with your coffee at night.

Thanx Rhona, hey, have you tried a jegerbaby , you take a shot of Jegermeister in a shot glass and put it in a short glass with red bull filled into the short glass up to half the shot glass and down it, now that will get one buzzing after a few.

Paula, small world!!!  I had a patient this morning (has been one for many years), but I never knew he was also an old Oranjemunder.  He knows you, and said I should ask you about the "diving lessons".  He's going to go onto the site today, and will be registering soon.   Hugo Mostert.  I think some of the appies/engineers might know him.  Was in Oranjemund from 1977?
