On OPS excellence .. Makes me think back to the time we held fundraising for the  cancer Fund  .. It was mid  to late 60's .. the effort put in by  OPS pupils was tremendous ..  I remember each classroom was a showroom ...  crafts , woodwork .. food stalls .. etc .. and of course the generous  cash  support of the O'mund folk  in purchasing  goods  that  they maybe  did not even need ...  If i remember   we were  in the top 3 schools in SA / SWA  for  funds raised .. Our  prize was a visit  from  Hanelie Van Niekerk .. an opera singer who was one of the  starters / custodians of the cancer fund .. i remember she  arrived .. gave a speech  in the school hall and sang a few Arias  .. i had a silver leaf autographed by her ...  Now  who  among us oldies rememebers that one ??

Yes  Andre ...  it was a special moment for me cos I had lost my friend   Brent  to leukemia  about a year before ...  I remember her as a warm and  friendly person . . no  bad bones and committed to her mission of raising funds  as  she too had lost her husband to the big C ....

Hi Sandy

I remember Brent and the tragic that followed.. My dad always had pigeons and I remember Brent coming to our house as he had a keen interest in them, I remember it like yesterday (It must be 40 years ago!!), Brents swollen legs and his passing.....
