I was underage but I blagged my way in! Was wearing a new suit for boarding school that was way too big for me.

Anyway, my elder sister Jennifer was appalled to see her underage pipsqueek boetie at the dance. I embarrassed her by being there and spoilt her chances of a snog with one of the guys!  ;D

I enjoyed myself and overdid it with the Cream Soda's and suasage rolls etc.

Ha ha!  The teenage dance!  Was that fun or what....  I remember when they stopped doing them, we were all gutted!  I think I have some photo's at my parents in Cape Town.

Hey Robert! At least you were in the hall and not on the roof again, staring through those windows...

hehehehe!

At my first teenage dance the big song out then was "Words Don't Come Easy To Me".  I was terrified and never really did look any good all dressed in fancy schmancy clothes.  Black is still my favourite colour!!

What i can remember about the Teenage Dance, was the long dresses and great bands like, Ballyhoo, Pacific Express to name a few.   (I'm so oooooold)

when i think "teenage dance" i think of the helium canisters used to fill the balloons - more of that helium went down our throats than into the balloons.......dunno how we ever go the hall decorated in time...another band that came to play one year was The Bolaines.....never heard of them again???  There was also The Bats that came up one year.

Be careful Darryl, Mike will have you blocked from his webpage - he is still living in the 80's!

Hi Delia,  I think Ballyhoo were also one of the bands that played at the teenage dance.  Remember how long it took for us to dress up for this!!
