darts marathon

My dad is here visiting me , and we were talking about this site, he asked me to find out if anybody can remember the 50 hour darts marathon. i understand it was held at the snooker and darts club. they were attempting to break the world record for continuos darts playing , unfortunately they were miss informed and stopped after 50 hours were up, only to discover it was 52 hours they were meant to achieve

hi darryl, i don't remember the darts marathon at the s&d club but i do remember the Desert Marathon in about 1981/82 held in the rec club - a number of clubs took part - it was held over an entire weekend - when it comes to the snooker & darts club taking part playing continuous darts i remember billy mckay's face being scarred from the flights towards the end - his arm was on automatic towards the end and the flights kept on scraping his cheek.  that was also the weekend keith ager cycled for some ridiculous amount of hours - there was a table tennis marathon going on (dennis proctor won that one).  the youth club also entered and we danced the weekend away in the main hall with neil van rensburg doing the music - andre gottsch (gottschie) impressed the judges with his dancing and won that one.  everybody brought sleeping bags in case the need arose and just crashed where they fell.  was a great weekend.
