Hi everyone looks like you are all doing great.  Thanks Pen for telling me about this website now no one can skinner about me.  I would like us to take a couple of minutes and pray for Sandles as it's John's memorial service today think it was at 10.30 but I've just arrived at work, better late than never. Spoke to Sandy last night and he seemed to be OK.  On a lighter note the rugby was shocking good gracious Namibia you can certainly do better than that what a shocker. Any comments?

Thanks Debbie.  Spoke to hubby last night and told him  I would like to have a reunion in Cape Town hopefully in April 2008.  He doesn't really have an option because I'll do it anyway ,anything for a party Sandy seems keen as well.  Pen you had better leave the country.  How's the family?

Went to John's memorial this morning.  Sandy was as fine as one could expect under the circumstances.  The service was personal with some very John touches to it; orchids on the coffin; his favourite book and DVD and a wonderful picture of John in an antique chinese frame.  Saw Verona Barrett and your boet, Steven there Penny & Viv.

We're all fine, children are well and growing up. I see that you're in Town for John's memorial. No pressure, but next time let me know and we can get together (to discuss the reunion) ;) of course.

Hi Diana and Debby.  The reunion will definately take place next year.  It will be the usual bring and braai
The only thing that will have to be arrange is the venue.  Penny says that Sandy and I cause rukus when we're together so she'll rather leave town and than be part of whatever happens (she should join us for a change).

Morning all  ..  a  new  day  has  dawned ...   and  life  is  going on  .. On  a  lighter  note .. Our   good  friend  David   whom  john and I  knew  for  30 years + who  officited    Johns  memorial  service  ..  hence  the  personal  touch ...  recounted  the  one  time  I  raided  the  wine  cellar  and  we  ganneted a  bottle  of  very old  port   of  johns  from  the 40s .. John came  back  from  the  kitchen  to  see  find  the  empty  bottle  was  furious  but  then  forgave in  an instant  ..  after all  what  do  you do  with peasants ?   after  the memorial  service ,   and  the  usual  tea  and  cakes  in the  hall .. we  had  a  gathering  of   family , good  and  lifelong  friends  and  some  close   work associates  at  the  house . it  moved  on  from  the  champagne toast  to a   wake  of  sorts  with  everybody  doing  it  the  way  it  should  be  and  that is to  celebrate  the persons  life , cry  a  bit  if you  feel and hell  man  if  you  want  to be  silly  so what ?? I  ran out of red  wine  .. so  I  did  as  I  have  always  done  .. raided  the  cellar ..  as  has happened so  many time in  real  life  again  I got  busted ... I  took out a  nice botle  of  cab  closed  the  hatch  was  standing  looking  at the  bottle  deciding  ..   when   suddenly  a flower arrangement  and  a  candlestick  came  crashing  off  the  top  of  the  piano ..  Guess  whos  still  watching  me ??  ..  nothing  spooky   just to  let  me  know   .. anyhow   approval  or  not  it  too  was  served to  the guests  ..

Sandy, thats the real Scottish way to celebrate somebody's life, have a good pissup!..... On a similar note, speak to my Brother Paul about his mother in Laws experiences after the passing of Bernie Holmes!
