The worst wind storm in my memory of living here, the two trees next to the IT buolding just came down, fortunately Oom Henry had just driven off 5 minutes earlier... Powers off too and I suspect we will lose data comms shortly.

Here's the wind speed measured at the airport a little while back...

Paul, is there a link we can use to read this meter could be interesting in my work

Here in Hobart, winter has finally hit.  We got about 15 mm rain in 12 hours and the east coast of Tasmania got something like 130 mm.  Floods road closures, gale force winds - the whole lot.  This after no rain for two months.
Virtually the whole of Aus is getting rain and needs it desperately.  Prefer the rain to the east wind anytime.

Alfie, there is, this is run from the airport weather station. Lodewyk could arrange access if required

Bloody hell

Just started snowing here in Hobart (5.30 pm).  Absolutely freezing.   Will try and take some pics tonight if I can get my hands defrosted.

Retiring to the tropics seems more and more like the thing.

Just heard from a source in the town arbor section that a substantial sum of money is to be budgeted for tree planting in Oranjemund in the year 2011...

This is great news.....
