Dose om still have boy scouts. It was a great chance of getting out from over night or at least in the evening.
I remember the rock game. I'll try to explain.
Bliksem! 30 years of German makes it hard now and then.
The new boys had to go into the tentroom, in which all utilities for camping were kept. They were then led them blindfolded, one at a time out of the room to kiss the holy rock. Kneeling down, they kissed somebodies forearms that were held together. Stunning faces. As soon as they took their blindfold of, they saw somedody pulling up his pants still seeing the slit of his backside...

We always felt real tough wenn we went on "survival-camp" with digger. He explained, that eating laucoust?? (spelling) tastes like peanutbutter. The next we saw, was digger biting of the ls legs and swallowing the rest. Lekker!!

I remember we went on a scout camp to Shepherds Neck once. All the "new" scouts were initiated during this camp. We were woken up at about midnight and smeared from head to toe with syrup, shoe polish and other nasty sticky substances. We were then given a cold shower in the ablution building. There was a great foofie slide there too. It stretched right across the main field.

Georg jnr, do you remember the scoutmaster in those days? I think his son's name was Cheznie or something to that effect. On one scout camp he caught a scorpion and let it sting him to show us how to react in such a situation.

That was Chesney Rogers..... we were sort of friends...only due to the fact that we had to pass through his alley on the  3rd ave to get to the park.... If I remember , I think he was always getting up to mischive....

Yea, Chesney Rogers. His dad was our scout master when I was in Scouts. He always took a 9mm pistol with on scout camps and would take pot shots at guinea fowl when he got bored. Highly illegal in those days of course, but then again everybody in those days did pretty much as they pleased.

As with Chesney, you're right, he did have a few unfortunate meetings with the police at that time. At one stage they wanted to ship him off to a reformatory, but nothing came of it.

Hi Carl.
Don't remember the proper names of the leaders except John Bance. But he left OM before me, so I suppose you never met him at the scouts.
Then there was "Digger". I remember he was a Luitenant in the army and had to go to some excersizes now and then. He lived somewhere on the east side of town. He was married and had a child that should be about 32 or 33. Tall black haired fellow. Enjoyed showing us how to eat laucasts. haha
Chip was a guy, well, with a chip on his shoulder. He was British, small and when showing on his belly would say:"My breast has slipped". We kids loved him. He had at least 2 daughters. Everybody had an eye on Susan. She was very maturely developed for such a young girl. Heather was my age and did std. 5 in 76.
Just remembered Mick Brotherton. He was the first in charge I met. I remember him and his pondock. He lived in 2nd Ave. He had a pair of nickers on the wall with a sign: " Me wifes undies" over it.
Just some brainstorming....
