So in the town's history, we progressed from no fence, to plank fences like we can still see at Alex Bay, to cement foundation fences that started in the 70's..... Now in the 2014's, a lot of the cemnet foundation fences are being replace by a private contractor...... Well after 40 odd years, it was about time,

Two things I noticed with the new fencing...

The planks look like cheap knockoff's , I reckon that five years from now, they shall need replacing, secondly, the okes that are rebuilding the fences are leaving huge gaps between the planks... Spacing on a grand scale,,,

Oh!and how come we never saw a service level inspector coming around to insepct the finished product?

Me thinks that the mine is being taken for a ride here..

Just my 2 cents..

This looks like a two for you and one for me system. These contractors charge for three but only use two, a good way to make a plenty of profit................

The mine you thinking about Mike is long gone and those left don't care. Its all smoke and mirrors now.  cat1.gif

Not  2  for  3 just crappy wood , cannot  close the gaps cos planks  so uneven ,, reminds me of my saga with buying a new picket gate  for  front gate . Builders warehouse , Coltimbers  product , size etc was kept on record . so went off and bought new gate . To get what I wanted I had to buy a 1.8 m gate gate , cut it  down and redo the picket tops  as  per  usual . Did the deed  to gate  was  wondering  somewhere in the back of the mind why  it was  so much less work .. Prior to painting  always do a double check  all Ok , note the gate  has less  uprights  in  it , in fact looks  rather  gaptoothed ,, Now  fuming  phone  ColTimbers ,, get a  sort of  " Oh we changed the  design to suit the  fence  design ,,ie  they have over period of time  gaptoothed their picket fencing and  gates  to save on planks ... and  still charging the same ??   I did hissy fit ,, took picture  of  old  gate  rotting , its matching  next door  gate >> sent  email to  ceo of group  with pictures , stating  that the gate rotted due to their lack of wood  preservative etc , challenged their decision to change design . why not just charge the appropriate price ?? .. got  email and phone call back for delivery address  for  delivery of a gate  made  to the old specification free of  charge . With  that  apology  for inconvenience and they  will  review their  marketing / cost strategy as  it appears some bright spark forgot  about  those  good customers that possibly  have bought many many meters of  the old  design and  when needing to replace    damaged  sections  will have  mismatch ... is  that not a duh of  note ??

Heard other people this week complaining about the quality of the wood, ironicall this past weekend, I was doing something , and placed my hand against a fence and almost went through it as the planks started to bend......
