You are wrong, the priest didn't say will you find everything

You see, thats the problem with the girls, they want to hear all in detail. You must read between the lines what the priest said, and beleive me that was strong words, at least thats what i understood.  bling1

Hi there Mike

Looks like you and I both had terrible weeks!!!  I had to have my german shepherd, Raisha put to sleep on Tuesday gone by. Well, I have not stopped crying.  I have the tendency of making my pets part of my household and boy, oh boy, when something happens to them it knocks me off my feet.  Unfortunately these things always happen when hubby is away and I have to make the difficult decision.

She was 12 years old and needless to say, the hips starting packing up. She was also busy going blind and at times she would just collapse.  I decided to take this step, because if I had to wake up one morning and she passed away on her mattrass in my room, I would surely go completely crazy.  I still have my 5 dachshunds (4 miniature and 1 standard dachsie).  The youngest of the lot used to sleep ontop of Raisha, used her as a mattrass.  Well, my animals all get cremated and the ashes and photos are kept in a special corner of my home.  Some people think I am mad, but if you are a geniune animal lover, you never forget them. They are on loan to us, no guarantee that they will walk with us all the way.  I have a couple of sayings which I would like to share with dog lovers:

Dogs are not our WHOLE life, but they make our lives whole.

All knowledge, the totality of all questions and all answers, is contained in the dog.

Util he extends his circle of compassion to include all living things, man will not himself find peace

They are better than human beings - because they know - but do not tell

Every boy should have two things:  a dog and a mother wiling to let him have one

A dog has the soul of a philosopher

Thou art true and honest as a dog

A dog is like an eternal Peter Pan, a child who never grows old and who therefore is always available to love and be loved

I hope if dogs ever take over the world and they choose a king, they don't just go by size because I bet there are little dogs with some good ideas

There is something to be said at how quickly a dog makes friends in comparison to a human

Don't always keep your dog on a leash if you want him to be attached to you

Cheers

Charmain

I feel for all of you. I hate going to this topic as it makes me sad.You don't want to be around when my German Sherpherd goes to the big kennel in the sky to befriend Dollar and Raisha.

For Mike and Charmaine and all pet lovers who feel the loss

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace. Jimi Hendrix

Ok  now  you made me  go all  mushy  inside   ..  the  doggie parlour  sent  that  little  bit of precious to me  after  my  yorkieboy  Byron  had  to  be put  down   .. I  was  inconsolable  cos  I blamed  myself   as  I  was  not  observant enough  to  keep  the  little  lionhearted  creature  who  thought rottweillers  were a  snack   out  of  trouble ....  indeed  the  song " bright eyes" from  Justin  Hayward  comes  into  here  as  well  ...

After my Jenna had to be put down last year (told you guys how I used up a whole box of tissues in the vet's rooms - and he know's by now that he has to keep an extra box at hand just for Dalene) they also sent me a card with the most beautiful story on it  - took me about an hour to read the one page           :emot78:

Thank's for sharing like this, you lot.
Life becomes harder for us when we live for others, but it also becomes richer and happier. Friendship is a sheltering tree.

Hi Bobby and the rest of the Crowd

Thanks for your kind words.  One last thing I forgot to mention on my previous post:

The most beautiful thing about a dog:  Their love is unconditional!!!

Hi all the Dog Lovers

Tuesday gone by it was a week ago that Raisha was put to sleep. I just have to share this with all you animal lovers. My standard Dachshund, Astro, (he is a giant in comparison with the miniature dachsies, weighing a solid 17.5 kg) has taken over the role of Raisha in the household. At the present moment he is lying next to me here at the computer whilst I am on the site. Funny, all the places where she lay while I was busy doing something, be it doing embroidery on my machine or cooking in the kitchen he has taken over. Raisha never moved away from me, no matter where I was and at night she would go and lie on her mattrass in my room once she saw me changing into my pajamas.

These are the most wonderful creatures God put on earth.  Although they cannot speak, their behaviour is incredible.
