I remember we had massive acrobatic poles in our garden, 26/13th. They were shaped like a swing only cemented into the ground and very industrial looking. Perhaps someone can shed some light as to how and why the got to be there? My Dad had a helleva job getting them out.

My dad put up a proper swing in our garden in 5 o/c - it was in the sandpit which he built - the real makoy swing, like the ones in the parks.  We had many awesome days swinging away on that swing.  It was a rubber swing and one day Alison Bennett and I were standing on each end seeing how high we could go - we were pretty high and as we came down through the poles, the one chain snapped - i hung on for dear life, my head connected the pole as we swung through, I dropped, got up and ran to the bathroom only to see this huge appearing egg on my head - my screams brought my sister linda running, she grabbed me, put me on the back of her bicycle and raced up 7th avenue to my mom's office, me screaming my lungs out on the carrier with her shouting "delia, please dont die, please dont die". It must've been quite a sight to see for any onlookers..............

Ah Delia, what an excellent story - I know I shouldn't as I'm sure it was a serious bang but I'm laughing out loud

Delia

No probs Rhona, it's cool, we still laugh about it today.  Didn't quite get to finish the story yesterday, boss walked in, had to log off (I surf at work)...........the worst part was when we walked into my mom's office, she was working in the typing pool, all the women burst out laughing at this HUGE egg sticking out between my fringe - geez, was i pissed.......anyway, my mom took me to the doctor and he wanted to keep me in overnight for observation......not a damn was i staying in hospital so the doc said to my mom "okay, but just watch her in case she goes funny".........looking back now, that was quite a broad statement........all us O'mund kids were "funny" in the head......my guardian angel must've been watching over me big time that day........the knock on the head missed my temple by inches and we all know what happens if you get clobbered hard enough on the temple.........obviously wasn't my time.

Nice pic Bev.
Is that your Kitchen window? There were only a few models of houses, and our house had a "corner" like that which meant you'd be looking at the kitchen window.

No, that looks more like the dining room window. If that's the case, then there would be 2 more windows to the right, that were the bedrooms.

That's true Patricia. But the foto just seems to be ending at the kitchen window.

That ain't the kitchen window... thats the 3rd window in the lounge, often where one would find the dining room table in the lounge.... that is a T shaped house as opposed to the I shaped house.... on any street you would have a T then an I a T then and I  and so on and so on......
