Abatoir and school tours!

Any of you lot remember going to the abatoir on school tours? Baaad place to be , if you were a sheep!

Did  the  abbatoir tour  at  school  and  again  when I satred  again  as an  apprentice ...  then  when  I  worked  in  Town electtrical ..  I  had  to  go  there ... and work   one  thing  going  on  the tour .. the  true horror  is  hidden  from  our  innocent  eyes ..  another thing  going  there  to  work ...  the smell  of  fear  ..  the  blood  the  gore .. I  was  sick  to  my core ..  refused  to  work  there  again ...  ended  up  going  off  meat for  a  good  many . years

I tell people that we were taken to the abbatoir on a school trip and they are all shocked - I think it has mentally scarred me for life. I remember going and at the end of the trip we were offered pink vienna sausages to eat... I still can't eat them now - they were in a big plastic bucket and still warm!! EEUUUGGGHHH

Thats the best time to eat Viennas, when they are fresh and straight out the cooker.....

But worse of all Barbara. The sausages are made of DEAD PIGS. eeehhh!

Why -  it's obvious the pig should be dead before they make the sausage of vienna.  I would really be upset if I bought sausage or a vienna and the cow or pig or antelope or chicken or whatever it's made of, was still alive inside!

Ja, I agree with Dalene, it would ruin the music if it was still alive, all the squeeling while you're trying to bite it.... just way too noisy for me......

 :bagno1:  I remember a school visit to the abbatoir and remember no amount of washing and bathing for a couple of days got rid of that terrible stench that seemed to have seeped into my hair and clothes.  I still am unable to eat polony today.
I remember it was Claire & Rebecca Sanderson's father that was in charge of the abbatoir during my visit.... Yikes, cannot say its a job that I would jump to have ... hehehehe

Yep. Butb I think in the live show they had inflated animal including pigs flying about near the end.
