Gosh....i cant ever remember visiting the abbatior..............i wouldnt have gone  and dont think my mum would have let them take me lol.  she used to warn me never to go over to that side of town ...........................
....ive always had this real big  hatred of the places......and i have dreamt so many times that i have been in an abbatior  where all the animals are terrifeld and trying to get out..........bleating and mooing       ....and im in the middle of it all and trying to get them all out ...its a real nightmare.....think it could be my guilt from eating meat........I used to think anyone who wanted to go inside one of those places was sick.....i thought anyone who could kill an animal...was sick...evil.....not normal..........HOWEVER...lol....now im grown up....well older....i just dont think about it and can take a more adult view on it all......but i  still cant understand how anyone would ever ever want to be a butcher.......sorry to all of those who are..........

Hello Michael

I did not go on any school tour to the Abattoir's I was to old at the time.

We were going on holiday down to Cape Town the slaughter man at the abattoir used to hire out his car, forgot his name. (anyone remember him 70-71)

Had to go out to the killing fields feedme to see him and and make the hire arrangements it was a Pontiac big yank tank.

After we had done the deal he took me on a tour of the place, and at the end of the tour I was given this bunch of pink fingers.

While reading through these posts I relies they were Vienna sausages because at the time I "puked" all the way home.

Albeit not Oranjemund, I remember being in Sub B or Std 1 and going to the Kuruman abattoir. It didn't change my outlook on meat but definitley not an outing for junior school...!!!
All things electrical contain smoke. Making it come out is easy; getting it back in? ... yeah right!!!

OOOOOOhhhh

I like my meat only just sealed, stealing the end pieces of the worse before the braai mmmmmmmmm very lekker

I recall a time at town electric somebody left and he brought "Row-Huck bretions" half the guys took the meat of and cooked it before eating mmmmmmmm I like them also but with real silver side, lots of onions and black pepper.
