mike,you are a star,albert,paul and erwin were an integral part of my life in om,as were their parents ,aunty joan and uncle luke,our families were very close friends as i recall,does anyone have a contact for erwin?

I saw Erwin and Juanita at Richard and Debby Opperman's place in Tableview last October when we were visiting from Canada.

Paul and Erwin were very good friends of mine when I was in Oranjemund.  Paul was killed the year after I left and heard the news on a radio report while I was doing a three-month camp on the border!!  I was absolutely devastated.  From 1990 to 1996, we lived in Melkbosstrand and we were frequently seeing Erwin and Uncle Luke during that time.

My memory must be fading in my old age, because I just cannot place you.  You talk of all the things I remember so well about hanging out at the Lissers' pondock . . . listening to music, and planning the nights events . . . or just hanging out.  Aunty Joan was like my second mother for the short 10 years I spent at Oranjemund.  Do you perhaps remember me??

yes i remember you keith,i was from a big family,3 sisters and twin brothers,making us six in all,you mite rember my father harry smith,he was the apprentice instructure to the mine,my mom worked in the retail store,my sister kay,or kathleen as she was known,was the same age as erwin i think.we lived at e23/9th ave,opposite laurel jackson and on the other side were coral and cherry alcock.we had to leave cdm after the death of my father in 1972.how old are you now keith?in fact it is my birthday today,1.9.58,that makes today my 49th,well ex omunder,take care,cheers bobby

We are celebrating the 1st day of Spring today and Mike and the girls have been putting the pool back up this morning, the time also changes back to normal today so the evenings will at least be lighter. I hope you can enjoy some good weather on your birthday before autumn hits! Go well!

thank you michele,todays weather in the uk is slightly overcast but still warm enough to braai,god what i would give for a lekker stik boereworse,the only consolation is that ive found a shop that sells castle lager,got friends comming round 2 nite,its always a good party as its my good ladies birthday 2morrow,24 your bash,good job i got the last ten cases of castle.ps,can you tell mike ive scrutinised the groups for the word cup and the boks look good for the finals,cheers,take good care all

I certainly do remember your Dad . . . but, I'm still at a loss to remember the kids - Geez, must be this old fart memory!!

I'm 53 (July 23rd, 1954) . . . we moved to O'mund in 1968 from Kabwe, Zambia.

You would have left O'mund when I was in the army!!

juanita - a story for you and erwin - you probably don't remember me, much younger than you but albert was friends with my brother lance (olivier).  i was about 12/13, lance was about 16/17 (not too sure how old albert was in relation to lance) - we were still in our house at 5 outer crescent so it was somewhere in 1977 as we moved when my dad died in the latter part of that year.  lance and all his buddies came back to our place for "coffee" one night after a night out and asked me to make them something to eat. i was in the kitchen and all i could hear coming up the pathway was the clinking of bottles. wondering what the heck it was, i look out the front door and here comes albert with those bottles that had the ear to carry them by - he had 2 in each hand, clinking away.  in he comes and all he wanted to eat that night was a "peany nutty sandwich".  i'm saying "okay, albert, go to the lounge, i'll bring your peany nutty sandwich".  2 minutes later, in comes albert again to the kitchen - "where's my peany nutty sandwich?".  so this carried on until he got his peany nutty sandwich.  i was very fond of albert - he was gentle at heart and made me laugh with his antics. to this day, 30 years later, i think of albert every time i have a peanut butter sandwich.

Aah Yes Delia, I too have lots of good memories of Albert in Omd and Cpt. Still miss and think of him lots. He got married in Cpt and had a daughter, Jenny, she must be about 25 now and living in the UK.

Hi Delia,
No I don't remember you but Lance your brother sounds familiar. I also have some wonderful memories of Albert. One such story,
is how when on a "off weekend" we ran out of petrol for Uncle Luke's landrover, we would get hold of Albert and take him to the  parking area at the old security building and he would syphon petrol out of all the hired cars parked there. Needless to say poor old Albie used to get stoned on all the fumes. So if anyone who is still around today ever wondered why there was no pertol in the hired car after you came back from a 'off weekend' (and you were sure you filled up before you left), now you know.
By the way, has anyone got Audrey Harris & Barbara Eia's (Brownles) e-mail address. I had it but have misplaced it. I would be grateful if you could let me have it.
