Patricia and Brenda, you are not alone....... I matriculated at Rustenburg Girls High 1978 - 81. If my memory serves me correctly there were no burglar bars on the cubicle windows when I arrived in 78, we had shutters. I do believe the escapades of a certain young lady in the middle of the night, involving sheets tied together brought a demise to our "freedom". What I remember most about Rustenburg was; Mrs Gracie, cheese with peanut butter and syrup, the std 9's common room and getting chickenpox while everyone else had the mumps! :D

Hey Sandy,

The bars were on the windows close to drain pipes. For some reason I always got those cubicles. Even ended up prefect of D-dorm, in a cubicle with bars for the whole year. They must have thought I'd be the one to use my sheets to get out ...! Remember the midnite feasts? Salt & Vinegar chips dipped in cottage cheese. And that awful bell they rang to wake us up in the morning. Pure torture!

What years where you at Rustenburg? I feel your pain, did a prefect stint in D Dorm myself - depressing to say the least. I think they were more concerned about boys getting in, rather than us getting out - until that fateful day of course. Oh boy, the midnite feasts.....what we didn't do for entertainment, and raiding the kitchen? Do you remember doing homework after "lights out" with a cloth of some kind over your cubicle light - I'm amazed that one of us never set the place on fire.

So True - what doesn't kill us makes us stronger.
Kids today expect so much and take so much for granted. too scared to put mine in boarding school ( not that we need to where we live) Because if they did the half of what i did, I would f***ing kill them hehehehe

You can add another Rusty Bug to your collection - I was there from 1983-1987...boarder in Standard 6, daybug thereafter. Patricia, what about the marie biscuits and condensed milk during the mid-night feasts...

Hi all
Rather a miserable topic! I went to St Cyprians with Margaret Fry & Mandy Rapley. Also Jennifer & Jane Fletcher (anyone remember them?). There were also one or two ex O'munders and some Kleinzee girls. I spent the 1st 6 months bawling my eyes out - even got kicked out of chapel! The two Centruarians - who was the headmaster in your time?
