CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A West Virginia woman is at the Cleveland Clinic after walking the line between life and death.

Doctors are calling Val Thomas a medical miracle. They said they can't explain how she is alive.

They said Thomas suffered two heart attacks and had no brain waves for more than 17 hours. At about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, her heart stopped and she had no pulse. A respiratory machine kept her breathing and rigor mortis had set in, doctors said.

"Her skin had already started to harden and her fingers curled. Death had set in," said son Jim Thomas.

They rushed her to a West Virginia hospital. Doctors put Thomas on a special machine which induces hypothermia. The treatment involves lowering the body temperature for up to 24 hours before warming a patient up.

After that procedure, her heart stopped again.

"She had no neurological function," said Dr. Kevin Eggleston.

Her family said goodbye and doctors removed all the tubes.

However, Thomas was kept on a ventilator a little while longer as an organ donor issue was discussed.

Ten minutes later the woman woke up and started talking.

"She (nurse) said, 'I'm so sorry Mrs. Thomas.' And mom said, 'That's OK honey. That's OK," Jim Thomas said.

Val Thomas and her family strongly believe that the Lord granted them their miracle and they want everyone to know.

"I know God has something in store for me, another purpose. I don't know what it is but I'm sure he'll tell me," she said.

She was taken to the Cleveland Clinic for specialist to check her out. Doctors said amazingly she has no blockage and will be fine.

Now we talking .. My hairdresser Davids partner Peter Voges .. had massive heart attck in Knysna  a few years ago .. he officially died and did the whole tunnel thing  and then he felt himself being whooshed back .. and there was he alive again .. also  the same thing .. he was told that he had a purpose  to fulfill .. he suddenly developed different insight and senses including psycic  ability ..  Peter is 72 and still working  among things on an opera  he is writing  and many other projects  in the theatre world  , he has a rich history that he too has to pass on .. and he is determined to see it all done .. has great sense of future .. heart problems seem tobe a thing of the past now ??   although always humble in the respect that if he is again meant to go tomorrow  even with unfinished work  so  it is meant to be  .. i find his company  truly enriching ..

Truly a frighteneing thought .. hence the "Wakes "  andthe graveyard watch with the bell .. thank goodness for  medical " science"  being where it is .. More accurate ..  most times clinical death is a pretty good assesment ..  but then you ahve the comeback cases that defy all rational explanation ...  and always with a story of  .... " i have been given a second chance forever what reason ????  life ,death ,living  ,where we are,  what we are doing ??  all part of the  great mystery  ??  the  " veil" being so thin but only some see it and realise it ..  At johns memorial  service .. one of Davids sisters  and her two sons were sittingin the nave of the chapel  .. away from th rest of  the celebrants ..  she is extraordinarinaly fey .. and her two sons  seem to have inherited the " gift "  .. I observed the two boys .. and  I got the immediate sense that they were looking at something totaly different .. upon questioning  Cheryl  .. she told me her boys were not seeing who was there in flesh and blood .. instead they were seeing  a celebration of many souls  related and not related  just welcoming him  .. the time frame not being important . it was more of a case of  what we had  set up as  our " farewell " and the time was appropriate ..  so they joined and celebrated  and welcomed him .. ..   I remember the morning of the private cremation  ..  I got this very distinct   voice telling me  in dream state .. Oh no you going to burn me !! .. Half dream state i said .. its what it is and where it is .. nothing can change it .. whether you lie in the ground and feed the worms   it makes no difference ..  fire  releases the enrgy and is cleansing  and allows the energy to move on .. me in dream state ..  a lot happens .. not profound but just there in the moment ...   but then thats my experience ..  anyhow I go back to the Peter Voges ,, Mr heart attack  ..  Mr second time around ..   comment here please ...

yes sandy barbs rhona and everybody else......... the cooling down of the body was what drs did to me, i was cooled down to 32 deg  and tilted so blood and oxygen remained in brain whilst being "dead" for 9 minutes.you guys are all going to say im completely nuts after this posting!!! but sandy fritz told you how i looked in hospital and that i proberly wouldnt make it. surprised myself ,car insurence company paid R96000 for car, i dont recommend you do same to get a free car.

Funny thing about OBE's .. i used to have them broad daylight  as a child ..  I would be sitting in class at school and suddenly feel this strange feeling coming over me ,, kind of like feeling as though i was being compressed or crushed and yet at the same time  expanding  at a huge rate .. and a huge buzzing sound .. and suddenly POP .. it was that kind of sound  and next thing there was i floating above the class looking  down at them .. I could see and hear  all  thatwas going on ..  . and then at will when i was ready  drift abck ..  Our one teacher .. a Mc Creedy .. I'm sure he knew what was going on cos he would just look at me  if I happened to POP out .. he would just smile at me the moment  I " returned " ..
worst one was the one time at  my new place of employment early 80's .. i leant over into a bagmaker ..  to investigate a problem .. took this awful american  design  connector plug into my left hand .. the brass bolt in the center had become live ..  I had nowhere to go . i could not let go . so ther was I captive in the hand Mrs 220v 50 hz .. the longer i was ther  the worse it became .. and yes finally i saw the tunnel .. kind of a loonytunes number .. but first dark at the end and then yes the light .. got really scared .. only way out .. i  could not let go  .. i was in  death grip .. so i  started   to rock my body abck and forth .. i remember this instinctive motion .. and i suddenly flew out of the machine ..  .. the  ladies at the machine next to me   had only seen my  legs doing a kind of kicking and dance motion .. did not know what was going on .. untill they saw me fly out witha symphony of sparks ..    there was a hole burned into my left thumb about 5mm deep and my entire midriff that was in contact with the   adjusting gear rack of the machine ahd been burned through my t shirt  .. the t shirt was carbonized in the pattern and corresponding tattoo on my belly  ..  the tunnel /.. its real  ..seen it !!
