Call me sad and twisted but why involve the SAS when you have the homegrown Selous Scouts who train the SAS......and probably are waiting for the chance to do what that gay rights activisy has been the only one to do - get close to Bob!

was that the scuffle i saw on early morning TV in Rome  last week / ..  wanted to check the papers later in day but had seminar on for whole day and then socialising afterwards .. so did not get paper ..

I heard on BBC a few nights ago that his full title was, get this, Sir Robbert Mugabe, how's that for a hum dinger!!

@Sandy - Nope, this happened quite a few years ago. The plan was to detonate a bomb in the foyer of Mugabe's hotel in London as he was leaving for his daily chores. There were many roumers afterwards as to why the SAS operator never carried out his mission to the end. One of them was that his conscience bothered him about the number of innocent civilians that would be killed together with Mugabe. Another more believable one, was that MI6 tipped off Mugabe's bodyguards just before he was planning to leave the hotel.

And for those who might have missed it - the UK Government want to strip Mugabe of his knighthood. Why it took HM's doosie PM so long to begin the process is anyone's guess but it is an insult to the Queen and all of the UK citizens and the traditions and reasons for honouring a person with a knighthood.
