Looking at those Pics, i realized what fun i have missed out on

Georg ,  fun   .. yes  but  then  we all  had  different  ways  of  having  fun and  different  social circles ,,    You  had  fun   with  your  music   and  a   somewhat  quieter   circle  of  friends  ..... as  for  the  fun  at  caseys  ,, well  a  lot  of  it    centered  around  some  really  hard drinking .. I  used to  love  the  Sunday morning   shift  at  caseys  cos one  saw  some of  the  really  brave  ones from  the  night  before  shuffle  in  for a regmaker .. looking  ever so  sorry  for themselves  ordering   Jagermeister  or  Underberg   to  try help  settle  their fragile insides,  I am sure  you    prefered  your sundays  to  be  healthy  ones  ..  but yes  you  would have enjoyed the  odd  night out there   and  yes  indeed  had  fun   ...   heres  a  thought  going  through  my head  now ....

What would have   been fun  is  seeing  you  and  Konnie worrie  in a guitar  and  singing  duel ..   
I can  picture  you in your  oklahoma  outfit as  in the wild  west sauntering  through  the   swinging  doors  of  caseys   and  challenging  Konnieworrie  .. the two  of  you  then taking it out  to  the  circle .. the  battle  of the  guitars ...and  the town  watching  ...

Best remedy for Hangovers, rich food, gout etc or any other stomach ailment  =  Schwedish Bitters.  It tastes like s.... but has a kick ass effect. I have a bottle standing permanently in my medicine rack. If that tastes to bad try 10ml of vanilla essence in a small amount water.  Helps for nausea (preggy ladies this could help for you.)

Who can forget Kannie Worrie. I was friends with his son, James if I remember correctly. My parents visited them regularly for braais and house parties. They had a daughter as well, can't remember her name though. Aunty Steve (not sure of the spelling) worked as a nursing sister if I remember correctly. Great times. Mike thanks for the pics, I caught a glimse of my old man as well, hell how I miss him.

Remember in my late teens or early twenties a few friends and I walking through an alley past Kannie Worries house and we saw him working in his garden. Next thing we knew we were in his house having a couple of dops and leaving much the worse for wear. His camping on the island in the centre of town story is legendary. Also recall that on the 24th December all employees would knock off work at about lunch time. One year on the 24th I saw Kannie standing on the Eastcliff road near Uubvlei at about 10 o' clock hiking home as the busses taking employees to checkpoint arrived at about 12. When I asked the artisan I was working with about this he told me that Kannie used to do it every year on that specific day. Wonderful person.

Anyone remember Moses De Blici the reclusive contractor who plastered the Sunday Times all over his room in the single quarters and died of a heart attack?  They could barely get into the room when he was found because of the thickness of the "wallpaper".

The best thing I know against hangovers, is "rollmops" and "bismark hering". Sour fish for breackfast. Now hats a kick!

How could I ever forget Kannie Worrie (Oom Wessie). He used to pitch a tent in the circle outside Caseys and sing with his guitar. He would be so drunk and eventually all he sang was (ons kan nie worrie nie) over and over LOL.The best was when Western Province was playing Northern Transvaal currie cup final. Kannie Worrie put a bunch of flowers on the Western Province shield and toilet paper on the Northern Transvaal shield. Chased all the Northern Transvaal supporters outside Caseys and they had to creep under the swinging door entering into Casey's bar, he gave each one a clout as they came through. We were listening to the game on Harry and Alwys's radio (no tv those days).
