I also saw 4 Jacks and a Jill, loved the song about the crab that walked straight because it was drunk. Animal anti-cruelty league sell a book with a cd by Jill (Can't think of her name now) but was very disappointed with the music, sounded much better when I was smaller.

Her name was Glynnis Lyn

Did any of you see the movie "Shamwari" that featured the 4 Jacks and Jill in one of their rare acting appearances? When it came out in OM, I went to see it 3 times.

Denise Smith

I have great memories of the cinema, my mother Barbara Pretorius worked in the ticket office, so we had no problems getting into the latest movies.  The red velvet curtains are also something that comes to mind.  There are some crazy photos at home that were taken at the cinema when she worked there, I will try to scan them in and post them soon.

Richard Opperman

The movie has has changed - you will be shocked!!
Will post photographs of the inside this weekend.

What this space!

Here are some pictures of the movie house which I took during my "Oranjemund 2008 Reunion" stay.

THE SHOCKING CHANGE!

It is no longer a cinema - but a night club and bar area!
Some of the people sitting at the bar were upset with Barbara and I for taking photographs inside - apparently it is because they are not allowed to be there as some of them might be the night shift crew or booked off sick.

Tough shit! Here are some of the shots anyway!

NOTE: The curtains are still the same old curtains with the forest scene on it - they must be 30 /40 +/- years old?
          The projector holes.

Other Oranjemund reunion town and party photographs to follow!

And one more - note the projector holes!

Those were the days and time moves on.

Thanks for the pics Richard. I've still got some great memories of this place as it used to be.

How sad.....I remember queueing around that triangular flower box thingy. We'd go early so we could have a sitting spot in the queue. I must say I absolutely detest and hate the colours of the buildings in O'mund now. "GROSS"

Its as if they had too many tins of the stuff lying around and did not want to throw it out and in the end decided to paint what building they could with the GROSS colours.

The pink of the Little Theater is too disgusting ...
Don't sweat the small shit!

No one mentioned the Yellow & green Mine Store

Or the Smurfs Blue offices

Thanks richard. Now I have an impresion of what our beloved cinema turned out to be like. I remember the renovation to well in the 70s. The new artificual leather seats I think in a light blue.
And now...
Looks very dirty and cheap...
