After all these years its time to own up.  I lived in the single quarters as an appy and had a drum set in my tiny room.  It was entertainment for many no doubt.  I was respectful enough to tone down the music around 11 pm but the many neighbours had a memory and would let everyone within 50 feet appreciate their music.
I was taught a little trick which worked well to put paid to the noise.
Open up a 15 amp plug, join the live, neutral and earth together and put the lid back on.  Insert said plug into a 220 volt outlet and switch on.  It tripped the main breaker all the way back to the outside distribution board which was reset the next day.  Quiet was now guaranteed.  The challenge was to remember to remove the plug before Gunther Machs' sparky found out.

In retrospect, It was a pretty dumb thing to do and no doubt Georg will frown on this ...

HA! John and the said appy's were not intelligent, I too had the experience of a loud party that went into the night, I think it was boilermaker party, anyhow we had the keys for the db board, simply went out there, tripped the switch to his room, relocked the board, went to sleep!

Ja Mike.  I prefer my method.  You could lie in the comfort of your room, prep for bed, say good night to all and plug-and-play....

The single quarters was a great place, you could get lekker sloshed at Sportmans and your bed was just round the corner, Mike liked setting people alight. A lot of fun and games

Michael Alexander

Yep! Yep! I liked setting people alight back in the single quarters..... Clints room looked like a porn movie setting, with mirrors on the ceiling.....!
