Pine's Awesome 1940's Oranjemund Snaps!

The story goes as follows: Ol' Pine Pienaar is about to retire after being here for about 20 years..... about 12 years back, he sufferd his first hear attack.... landed up in City Park hospital in Cape Town, whilst recovering in his bed, he starts to talk to this old timer who was also being treated for a heart problem, turns out the "old" timer was in Oranjemund, way back in the 30's and 40's...... he got his wife to bring in the following old snaps..... some had captions , the the others lost to time.....he gave the snaps to Pine, to take back to oranjemund, as in his condition, he would not be using them...... Well Pine kept the pics and after all this time, gave them to me, does not want them back....reckons I could use them.... So for those of you interested in the beginning of this mine and town..... have a blast and feel free to comment!

Wow, feels like I've just watched a 1940's movie ... Was that power station demolished or was it just renovated over the years to be as we know it today? And all those sheds, were they slowly replace with the new houses?

I think Richard Opperman posted a photo of that same powerstation form another angle..... So it's in the same place, so I reckon they just modified the building!

.......absolutely fascinating.....you know this is not too long after the exodus from Kolmanskop. Look at those early bucketwheels. I wonder where these old 40's machines rest in peace.
